The last hours of NaNoWriMo are upon us. I’m hoping to add to my word count before midnight. Fingers crossed that it goes without a hitch.
NaNoWriMo has been very trying what with going through periods of mind fog and questioning whether my WIP has a purpose but I’m very proud of for sticking with it. Even more so for blogging every single day in November to record my progress. It was something that I never thought I would be able to do but I did it.
I said in earlier posts that the WIP that I’ve spent the past month working on started as a young adult novel and that recently had changed as the content didn’t fit. I’ve now had an idea of where it could go after I leave it for a few months. It’d be a different story altogether but that prospect excites me more than anything.
Whether you’ve hit the 50K target, crawled to 10K or sprinted well over it you are all winners. You gave it a go. No matter what your word count sticks to and that’s all that matters. That you tried is amazing. You’ll have started something all thanks to participating and that’s something invaluable.
As we come to the end of the road of NaNoWriMo this is my last post until Saturday.
It’s goodbye from me until then.
Well done with all the work you’ve achieved this month. You’re all superstars!

The eve of the last NaNoWriMo day is dawning. How are you all doing? Are you nearly at the finish line? Perhaps you still have a way to go? Or are you well on your way to finishing your novel?
I talked a little bit about planning for my next novel and being inspired by Enya. Obviously, this novel won’t be a work in progress until later next year. After all, I have JanuWriMo in January where I’ll be writing a crime/thriller, then I’ll be revisiting Pandora’s Kiss in February and that should take up some time.
The story idea that I have is a bit daunting as it involves a particular time in my past that still haunts me today so I’m a bit weary about going there. It’s not something I want to do but as the saying goes if you can’t shake an idea off then it’s got to be written about. Just scares me half to death thinking about it.
Have you ever had an idea like that? A one so strong where it’s with you every single moment and you can’t shake it off?
The last time this happened it was with Pandora’s Kiss. It’s so unexpected.
Pandora’s Kiss still occupies most of my thoughts, too. Even though it’s away and I’m not supposed to think about it. I try to push it away when it happens, though. No point revisiting it of it’s still fresh in my head.
Best of luck wherever you are in your WIP’s.

I tried desperately to think of a topic for today’s post but all was lost. All I could think of was incessant babble and things that I’d sworn to keep away from my blogging posts.
Have you been writing listening to music during NaNoWriMo? Do you listen to music while writing in general? Writing my novel for NaNoWriMo I’ve been listening to Spotify playlists. Everything from dance to progressive rock to country. I always try to find one that goes hand in hand with the scene that I’m writing. While writing Adria’s I used gothic metal (with her despairing about her relationship with Robert) and for Daniel’s I used a pop/dance playlist for his reunion with Rosa.
I usually listen to music while writing a first draft of a novel. Sometimes it inspires me and other times it can be a distraction and stifle my creativity. It all depends on my mood and how my brain operates at the time.
When I first started writing Pandora’s Kiss eight years ago I used to listen to the radio, which as you know, is all very random. I didn’t focus on the music|
back then; it never fuelled my imagination or changed the direction the story was going in. Although, I do remember going to bed one night, the radio still playing away and Leona Lewis’s version of Run started playing. It created a vision of one of my character’s dying from battle and it was so vivid and fitting that I decided to run with it.
I’m pleased to say that she survived in previous drafts along with many others. The current draft doesn’t feature anybody dying which is good news for them.
Music can inspire us and act as a pathway to take us back to a place in time- whether happy or sad. It’s one of the things that I love about it.
I’m currently listening to Enya a lot andI’m currently listening to Enya a lot and letting it lead the way to create another story that’s lingering away in my head.

I’ve not made any progress with Human Nature due to being so tired from my busy schedule the past couple of days. I’m not complaining. I could do with getting more sleep after having bouts of insomnia.
My pet rabbit, Rodger is all healed up after his operation. He’ll be happy about that. Although he wasn’t so thrilled with the idea of going back to the vets to be checked over. He’d kept running away from me and my husband but we got him to go in his carrier eventually.
His rebellious behaviour didn’t stop with us, though. He even tried kicking the vet away from him. The vet saw the funny side and told him it was a bit late for that when he’d already neutered him.
How we both laughed at that. How very true it was.
He’s still as destructive as ever but that’s boys for you, isn’t it? 😉
Hopefully I’ll not be too tired tonight and I’ll be able to carry on writing.

Not long to go now before NaNoWriMo is over for another year.
Last night’s writing session went well but it took me two hours to actually start. Not down to procrastinating but other things got in the way of my intentioned time.
One word. Animals.
Our house is like a zoo. We have a dog, a cat and a rabbit. The cat as you may know isn’t ours but her owner is ill and we don’t know when she’ll be better to have her back. Trying to sort all three out at the same time is like juggling; as soon as you catch one ball the other one needs catching and so on.
My character’s don’t have animals. What a reprieve! To be writing and not have to think about the needs of animals. Heaven!
Speaking of my character’s their nearing the end of their ordeal but it’ll get worse before it gets better. Daniel has started working with one of his ex friend’s to pay off his debts and Adria has just paid her respects to her cousin who was murdered while working.
Oh, and I validated my word count on the NaNoWriMo website and… I’m a winner! First one of many, I hope.

Sorry the post is so late. I usually have them all scheduled but it’s just been so hectic today that I haven’t had a chance to catch my breath.
I didn’t do any writing last night. Instead I finally made a start on The Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb. The first book is called Ship of Magic. It’s quite different from The Farseer Trilogy as it’s written in third person instead of first/third person that I got accustomed to. Trying to get into it.
I also did a bit more colouring to try and relax and de-stress and it worked for the most part. Will have to do some more tonight to help me unwind from being busy busy today.
Here’s another picture from the Time Garden by Daria Song.
Tomorrow doesn’t look much better as my pet rabbit, Rodger is back at the vets for a check up following his operation.
Very, very stressful but rewarding in a way.
First though, back to writing. I’ve got some catching up to do.

Not a bad writing day. I managed to get a chapter and a half done. My goal was at least a chapter. I’m more than happy with that.
I have seen people posting their winning certificates on my writing groups on social media and I think it’s fantastic that so many have reached that goal. If you’re one of them then congratulations. If not, there is still time. Keep at it and you’ll get there. I’m going to try and validate mine later and see what happens. Wish me luck!
Yesterday’s brain fog has lifted (yay) but has now been replaced with other unpleasantness. I’m feeling a little sad and irritable, the symptoms of a depressive episode so I’m taking the time to do other things that I like to do to try to supress it. I’ll probably just spend it colouring in or reading in my study out of the way until I feel better.
I hope it’s sometime soon.
Hope you are all well and meeting your goals.
